Story Behind Permata Gayo Cooperative
In 1976-2005, there is conflict between Aceh and Indonesia government. To avoid the conflict, people (of Aceh) are leaving their houses and farms in country side, and move to urban areas, such as Medan. At the end of 2005, Aceh and Indonesia government finally concluded a peace agreement. But people in Aceh is still struggling to make a living. So poverty increase.
50 farmers in 5 villages build Permata Gayo Cooperative in 2006. Permata Gayo cooperative found to decrease poverty and improve the welfare of the people in Aceh by rebuilding damaged coffee farm.
